Message from the Sloth totem
Walking through the woods yesterday I was struck by this vision so I took a photo to help me relay it. To me, within the trunk of this tree is concealed the face of a sloth, almost like it’s been carved or frozen here in time. I hope you can see it too.
Whenever I spot things like this I try to capture them to help me explore the message which they might be conveying- both to me, and so that I can express this to others who might be seeking guidance too.
So off I went to explore the attributes of sloth, to help me understand the qualities which I need to draw on at this time. The message as always was clear, and I hope you find it helpful.
Because they move slowly and only when necessary, many people think of sloths as lazy, but they actually have strong instinct and are very adaptable, able to avoid predators with peace and ease.
Sloth can turn his head almost all the way around, enabling him to view his surroundings from all angles. He is also able to breathe for up to 40 minutes under water! Having no scent they can’t be sniffed out by hunters either.
Sp, they are camouflaged to their environment, move slowly and don’t disturb or startle anything. Sloths basically wake up with breakfast at the end of their bed, so there’s not much need for stress or rush!
Sloth attributes encourage us to take our time and make the most of even challenging circumstances without a fuss.
There are messages here around going slow and steady, adapting to your surroundings, conserving your energy and not trying too hard.
I take this as guidance to maintain focus on the peaceful way and take it easy where possible. If you’re feeling worn out or ground down, now is the time to stop.
So, I am listening to sloth message and recognising that taking time to rest is not the same as laziness- it’s a wise move in energy conservation and maintaining strength for the long haul. Time to refuel, watch and wait, and focus deeper inwards on joy, peace and our natural surroundings.
